The annual Durban Jazz Festival has been an event that has delivered a supreme musical experience on 26th December for the past 16 years, on the banks of Hazelmere Dam Being the desired music festival taking place over the festive season.
Durban is one of the countries most sought after destinations for tourists visiting KZN over the festive season, with much to offer during this period.The Durban Jazz Festival was conceptualized with this in mind by providing an annual outdoor event which both locals and tourists (national and from neighboring countries) can revel in and enjoy amongst all the other festivities in the province over this period.





Over the years, the festival has established itself as a premium “not to be missed” event that features prominently on the KwaZulu-Natal calendar, designed to enthrall all those who visit the province over this period and attracting consumer expenditure in the area and therefore increasing the city and the provinces GDP and boosting the local economy.
The Durban Jazz Festival is set-up as an outdoor music that brings innovation, vibrancy and variety of genres by celebrating jazz and afro jazz music, live in an open-air setting, highlighting national and local favorite artists.
The festival presents an interactive and irresistible musical experience using sound, interactive stage, dance, live performances, theatre of the mind and active collaborations of musicians (i.e. afro-pop with jazz). The audience Interacts with music in a relaxed, exciting and enjoyable atmosphere as patrons allowed to bring their own camp chairs, braai stands, cooler boxes, and umbrellas – enjoying the atmosphere whilst taking part in the activities the festival has to offer. Hospitality marquees for VIP guests and sponsors with
relaxing décor and lounge are set up with food and drinks served throughout the day.
